How GoldenHour handles your data

Last updated: April 2025

GoldenHour ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the GoldenHour app, how we use it, and what choices you have.

Please read this policy carefully. By using GoldenHour, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account or sign in with Google, we collect your email address and, where provided by Google, your display name and profile photo. This is used to identify your account and associate your Pro subscription with you.

Your photos. GoldenHour processes photos you choose to import from your device gallery. Your photos are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. We do not store, transmit, or have access to the content of your photos.

Subscription and payment records. If you purchase a Royal Pro pass, we store a record of the transaction (order ID, payment ID, plan type, and expiry date) in your account on our secure database. We do not store your card number or full payment details — payments are handled entirely by Razorpay, our payment processor.

App preferences and settings. We store your in-app settings (theme preference, default aspect ratio, onboarding status) locally on your device and, where relevant, in your account profile so they persist across devices.

Usage data and crash reports. We collect anonymous usage information (such as which features are used, session duration, and crash reports) to improve app stability and guide product decisions. This data does not identify you individually.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your personal information for advertising or sell it to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

GoldenHour uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

We do not integrate advertising SDKs, data brokers, or any other third-party trackers.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your account data (email, subscription status, payment records) is stored on Firebase's secure infrastructure, hosted in Google Cloud data centres. Firebase uses encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.

Your photos never leave your device. All photo processing — film presets, grain, vignette, colour grading — happens locally using your phone's CPU/GPU.

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure. Please use a strong password for your account.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your profile and subscription records within 30 days, except where we are required to retain them for legal or financial compliance purposes (typically up to 7 years for payment records).

Anonymous usage and crash data is aggregated and cannot be linked back to you after deletion.

6. Your Rights and Choices

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you also have rights under GDPR / UK GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Children's Privacy

GoldenHour is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify you via an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
